God GAVE...

"God GAVE", what a huge statement, said in such a short sentence! This sentence or phrase is embedded in the most memorized, most comfortable, most visual scripture in the Bible. It comes from John 3:16. It's the first verse you memorize when you were a kid and as a new Christian. 

For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." (NLV)

Wow! How generous was God! He gave the world his only Son, not that if you had more than one son, it would be easy to give up ANY son and then to take it further, talk about if you would give your daughter. I have three sons and I wouldn't give ANY ONE of my sons to the world. But I say, like you would probably agree, I'm not God!  And also look at The Son, Jesus! Jesus gave (sacrificed) his life so that we could be forgiven for our sins and live forever. Now that's generosity!!!!

The point I am making is for us to follow the example of God and of Jesus. Love is a choice and an action as explained in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (the meaning of love verse). With this love, our relationships should be based on God's love. I know that is not an easy pill to swallow, especially with some folks but we have to try. We have to try to make that choice and to do that action. When you love someone deeply, you are willing to give freely, even if it calls for some sort of sacrifice on your part and some discomfort for yourself.

This definitely can be a struggle and we may mess up but God is so forgiving and full of grace and mercy (other ways God shows us that He loves us and that He is love!) that we are able to get up, repent (ask for forgiveness and turn from our ways), and try it again. God loves us first, not because we are so good at loving people (explained in Romans 5:8, 6-11), before we make the choice of loving Him. 1 John 5 is another place it explains about this love.

The purpose of this post is to point out that to love is to give as God demonstrated to us as He gave us Jesus to sacrifice his life so that we can be forgiven of our sins and to live forever in his Kingdom, if we believe.  Now, I am not encouraging anyone to give up their life for another person. I would just like to inspire you into being generous and more thoughtful in your giving. It would be nice to have a sense of selflessness in making others happy. 

As Easter is quickly approaching, I am working at designing some Easter baskets and treats to share with our loved ones. Many of my baskets are prepared for children but I can also make some for adults. 

Easter is a big day of celebration which includes family gatherings, delicious food, and many activities including Easter egg hunts, giving Easter baskets filled with bright colored toys, coloring hard-boiled eggs, and all kinds of candies. With all the activities involved  and our loved ones around us, we should not forget that God gave His only Son for us and Jesus gave His life for us!

Call to Action:

Mother's Day is also approaching on May 10, 2026. Think about how you can show love and appreciation for your mother and/or any special mother  or mother figure that you know.  Mothers have an unselfish love that should be appreciated. It can be an action (of giving) and it should also be a choice. I have a great idea for a gift and a loving gesture. An upcycled jewelry box or trinket box would be so unforgettable and so unexpected! I take an old broken down jewelry box and I repair, clean it up, and paint and embellish it into something newly restored -a cherished one-of-a-kind keepsake. It renders meaning, uniqueness, sustainability, nostalgia and appreciation.
